About this album

Goal of the Tournament collects the winners of football’s best-goal awards in one place: the FIFA World Cup Goal of the Tournament since 2006, the UEFA EURO awards since 2012 and the FIFA Puskás Award since 2009. Each winner gets a sticker with the match, the round and a short description of how the goal went in.

Where the facts come from

Winners, dates, vote shares and points come from FIFA and UEFA announcements first, then from major outlets that reported the results. Where sources disagree, as they do on the EURO 2016 observers’ pick or on Ferenc Puskás’s exact international goal tally, the pages say so instead of choosing one figure quietly.

The diagrams

The pitch drawings on each sticker show the approximate strike point and the path of the ball to the line, seen from above. They are drawn for illustration from match footage descriptions and are not tracking data. The illustrations at the top of the pages are generated artwork and show no real players.

The empty spaces

An empty space marks the next edition of each award. When a new winner is announced, the space is filled.
